State Police Seek Witnesses To Fatal I-91 Crash That Left Person Dead

Connecticut State Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal two-car crash that left one person dead.

The crash took place in New Haven County around 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5 on 1-91 northbound near Exit 15 in Wallingford.

According to state police, a 2019 Hyundai Sonata Sport, driven by Anna Munafo, age 31, of Killingworth, was traveling in the left lane of three on I-91 northbound when it was hit head-on by a2017 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Joan Hall, age 39, of New York City, after the Equinox ran off the roadway and crossed back into the northbound lane.

After impact, the Sonata came to a position of uncontrolled final rest facing south in the center and right lane. The Equinox rolled several times before coming to rest on the roadside, state police said.

Police said Munafo was transported by Wallingford EMS to Hartford Hospital for suspected minor injuries. Hall was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene. 

Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage by Country Club Garage.
